My name is Colin Woodgate, I live in rural Victoria - 40kms south of Ballarat. My aim as a photographer is to get images for you that you will want to share with everyone.
I originally concentrated on the traditional landscape photography for a number of years - chasing the perfect lighting and composition at all hours of the day and night. Although it was a very solitary pastime, I always found it extremely rewarding and, when things went well (they didn't always!) very relaxing.
I slowly transitioned into sports photography as my daughter went through pony club - including being part of a mounted games team which was a lot of fun. I loved taking images of the horse and rider at just the right moment as they sailed over a jump or went pounding through the water during a cross-country competition.
I was then asked by a work colleague who was involved in a local football team, to take photo's at their grand final. Collecting my "Media Pass" at the entrance gate I made my way to the edge of the footy oval and fired off a couple of hundred images, once again freezing the action-packed moments.
This really planted the seed and I found myself gradually steering away from the landscape photography and wanting something a bit more dynamic and faster-paced.
I hope you enjoy the images on this site as much as I have enjoyed taking them.
